HARTLING, Gary B. (29 November 1949 - 28 January 2025) Gary Bruce Hartling -75, Pictou County, passed away peacefully, Tuesday January 18, 2025 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Three Brooks, he was a son of the late Frederick Harold and Lena Erdena (Ward) Hartling. Gary was born at 3 lbs 2 oz and was in hospital for a couple of months at the start of his life. He attended Three Brooks School & West Pictou District High School. Gary then took a welding course at a trade school in Cape Breton. He worked as a welder at Trenton Works and at the Pictou Shipyard. Gary also helped out his father, who was a fisherman. Gary loved the outdoors & had a big garden when he lived in the country. He was very generous & gave away a lot of his vegetables that he grew. Gary loved to bake & make pickles & preserves. He would often enter these into the Truro Fall Fair where he took home many prizes. Gary was predeceased by his parents as well as his brother, Robert (Alice Bonvie). Surviving are his siblings, Beryl (Stanley) Higgs, Halifax, NS; Carol (Garnet) Cameron, Georgetown, ON; Thelma (Joseph) LaPierre, Hamilton, ON; and Myrna (Graham) Rains, Bridgewater, NS; also many nieces & nephews. There will be a drop-in ‘Celebration of Life’ for Gary in the social room of his building (48 Coleraine Street, Pictou) on Sunday February 2nd, between 1-3pm.
