TURPLE, James D.
The family of James Daniel Turple are saddened by his passing on January 31, 2025. Jim was born July 25, 1951 to parents Vincent and Winnie Turple.
Until Jim started high school he resided on his beloved Pictou Island.
Family was so important to Jim, he survived by his wife of 51 years, Jo-Ann; sons, Troy and his wife, Sue; Jason and his wife, Jane; his precious granddaughters, Emily and Madison; and his faithful companion, Harley who never left his side during the seven year battle with cancer. Also left to mourn are sisters, Rita Falconer (Scott), Rosemary Dewolfe (Jim); his big brother and best friend, Vincent (Judy); also survived by in-laws, Dana Parker (Tom), Claire Taylor (spouse of Barry Taylor deceased), Clair Taylor, Michael Taylor, Clifford Taylor (Kara), Brian Taylor (Michelle); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very dearly. Jim retired from Michelin Tire in 2006 after 34 years of employment. He served as a Councillor with the Municipality of Pictou County for 12 years, and was involved with the Pictou Lobster Carnival Committee, Northumberland Fisheries Museum, and several church activities. He loved to be on the water in his boat, exploring the shores of Pictou Island. Jim also liked to build model fishing boats as a hobby and gifted them to many kids in the neighborhood and beyond. After retirement he and Jo-Ann were fortunate to travel to many places on holiday. Many thanks to all the teams involved with Jim's cancer journey. Donations in his memory would be gratefully accepted to the Pictou County Palliative Care Society or to Pictou United Church. Family flowers only please. The Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 8th from Pictou United Church, with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall.
