MacCORMACK, Marilyn Ann
1941-2025
It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Marilyn Ann MacCormack (MacDonald) on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Marilyn passed with her loving husband Pat, her children Kim and Sandy and her stepdaughter Catherine by her side. She fought a valiant battle but is now at peace. Marilyn was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Marilyn was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, to the late Frances (Rooster) MacDonald and Helen Dunlop. She grew up and raised her children in Lyons Brook, Pictou County and lived her later days in the town of Pictou. Marilyn was a lover of books, music (especially Elvis), movies (also Elvis), dancing, boating, Facebook, game shows and spending time with her family. She loved to dance with her Dad, in her younger years. He was a drummer in the band The Royal Swingsters and used to bring her and her sisters to wherever he was playing. One of her favourite things was to teach her daughter and her girlfriends how to jive on a Saturday afternoon. She continued her love of dance with Pat later on, who she said was the "best dance partner" she ever had. Her love for Pat was true and they had many adventures during their years together. One of her treasured experiences was being out on the ocean with Pat, while she steered the boat, enjoying the time with their friends and loved ones. She was an awesome friend to have and always loved to help anyone that needed her. Marilyn spent many years working for Sobeys and Lawtons Pharmacy and was a familiar face in the town of Pictou. She enjoyed putting smiles on peoples faces as they shopped in her workplace. Her love for her children and grandchildren was limitless and she was always a counted on babysitter for years, never saying no if she got to spend moments loving them. She had a close "true blue" relationship with her sisters and their families, spending quality time together during holidays and summer vacation or just chatting with them on the phone for hours. They were her first loves and she missed them every day. Marilyn was predeceased by her two sisters, Jean Thurman (Jack) and Shannon Fraser (James); her grandson, Nicholas Falconer and her niece, Frances Marshall. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Pat MacCormack; daughter, Kim Boucher (Jim), St. Margaret's Bay; son, Sandy Swantee (Barb), Windsor Junction; stepdaughter, Catherine Falconer (Dwayne), Caribou River; grandchildren, Nick, Raegan, Connor, Rhyan, Mason and Matthew; and her two great-grandchildren, Brynn and Rhys. We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff and doctors of the Aberdeen Hospital and especially the staff of the ICU unit for the stellar care and attention she received during her short stay. A special thank you to the sweet nursing staff, especially Anika, Emily, Lily and Nina. Your clear empathy, words of encouragement and loving touch was a balm for our hearts. We truly are in awe of your kindness. Cremation has taken place with a family graveside service to happen in the spring. We will have a celebration of life for loved ones and friends, in April of this year. Date TBD.
