Obituary of Harold MacRae

MacRAE, J. Harold John “Harold” MacRae, born in The Ponds, PEI, raised in Pictou Co. NS. (June 24 1951 – February 13, 2025) John Harold “Hap” MacRae peacefully died at Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow NS, on February 13, 2025, surrounded by family. Harold lived his life to the fullest, enjoying his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping with friends and family and having a drink or two. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Elizabeth “Tootsie” MacRae. He also leaves behind his children, Laura (Mark), Staci (Louie), Traci (Cecil), Tara, Mary Ellen; and stepdaughters, Dale, Sherry (Daniel); and stepsons, Chuck and Donnie; 26 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and aunt Peggy, from PEI, that he loved dearly. Harold worked for the Department of Highways before retiring. Special thanks to his best friends Junior and Candace for their support. We also would like to thank the Palliative Care nurses and Dr. Farrell, Rachel from Palliative Care and all the girls from VON, who visited Harold, during his hard time. Cremation has taken place with a family graveside service to happen in the spring. A celebration of life for loved ones and friends will take place at his home 87 Veterans Dr., Pictou, NS, on Saturday February 22nd from 2-4 PM.
