BLAISDELL, Bernice A. Pictou Bernice Annie Blaisdell, age 75 of Pictou passed away February 23rd, 2025, at the Shiretown Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Bernice was born October 26, 1949, to Russell and Mary (Blaisdell) Brown in Dingwell Mills, Prince Edward Island, but was raised in Pictou, Nova Scotia. Bernice worked for the Pictou Advocate for many years in the shipping department. In her younger years Bernice played softball in the local women's league. Her passion for sports carried on throughout her life as she played numerous times a week in a bowling league at the Heather Bowling Lanes. She enjoyed playing darts with her sons and mother. Bernice loved her sports and always knew when her Toronto Blue Jays and Leaf’s were playing. It was hard to get her attention away from the tv when they were on. Bernice, her mother Mary and sister Irene could be found travelling the roads often together on the search for a good bingo game. As a resident at Shiretown she always made sure she had her tickets for Thursday night tv bingo, along with a few lotto tickets to scratch. Bernice is survived by her sons, Richard (Tami) MacDonald, Emmett MacDonald and Jason MacDonald all of Pictou; grandchildren, Gabe, Cohen and "Little" Ricky MacDonald; brother, Kenneth Brown; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Linda Cameron, Irene Anderson, Ricky Brown and Leonard Brown. Richard would like to thank the staff at Shiretown Nursing Home and a special Thank you to Shari Redmond and Shane Roddick. If you wish to make a donation in Bernice's name please give to the Pictou West Food Bank. Visitation will be Wednesday February 26th from 6-8 PM at McLaren Funeral Home Pictou. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
