Obituary of Violet Elsie Whitford

WHITFORD, Violet E. Malagash WHITFORD, Violet Elsie (nee Baird) of Malagash passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025 at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. She as born in Amherst, NS, on January 15, 1933 to the late Charles Stanley and Ursula ‘Elsie’ (Morris) Baird. In her early years Violet was a bookkeeper for their business Whitford Concrete Products Ltd. In those days both her and Jimmy enjoyed travelling around Nova Scotia going to different exhibitions. In her later years, they loved wintering in Florida where she met many new friends and old friends, enjoying being on a bowling team and playing cards. Violet was a devoted wife to James ‘Jimmy’; and cherished Mom to sons, Jamie (Janet), Allan (Donna), Derrick (Bonnie); daughter, Janice (Steven); grandmother to six grandchildren, Charles, Andrew, Scott, Stevie, Kaitlynn and Emily. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Gordon, Charles; sister, Clara (Doug); nephew, Joey Harris; daughter-in-law, Sarah (Derrick); half brother, Duncan Baird and half sister, Evelyn Baird Leon. Cremation has taken place. A family gathering will be held at a later date. Thank you to East Cumberland Lodge, Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Dr. Israel and Dr. Rowe for their care.
