Obituary of Arthur James Belong

BELONG, Arthur J. Pictou BELONG, Arthur James, passed away March 11, 2025 at the Church Street Villa, Pictou. Arthur was born in Shelburne on August 28, 1938, and moved to Pictou County in 1962 to begin his lifelong dream of working on a farm. He worked in Toney River where he met and married Geraldine. Together they were well known in the County going door to door selling their vegetables and eggs. When Geraldine passed away Arthur retired from farming. He was well known at the Pictou’s Tim Hortons and anywhere there was a card game. Arthur made friends with everyone that came into his life and always remembered their name. He will be sorely missed by the residents of Church Street Villa and his best friend Louie. Visitation will be held Thursday March 20th from 6-8 PM at McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will take place Friday March 21st at 10:30 AM from Pictou United Church with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity officiating. Donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
