Our deepest condolences to Ralph's family. I am positive that Ralph didn't have a mean bone in his body. I knew him mostly through the political world in the seventies and eighties. He was one of the best behind-the-scenes political strategists that I have ever met. He never viewed the other party as the enemy but rather as the opponet for today. We could use more political operators like Ralph. When our paths crossed in the grocery store or at the hardware store, he always had that broad smile and was really concerned with how my life was going. Pictou County has suffered a big loss. R.I.P. My husband and I both worked with Ralph and he was indeed a very kind and gentle man. Sending prayers and condolences to all his family at his passing. Working with him was always a pleasure. I never saw him that he wasn't in a good mood, friendly to everyone. A true gentleman. The world would be a better place with more men like Ralph.

Big love to you Ralph, a friend of my family for my entire life. Legend is the word I would use to describe Ralph. Dad always used to take us to visit on Halloween. I will never forget Ralph laughing at my brother's "old man" costume. The only thing stronger than his handshakes were the rums he used to serve. To this day he is on the only golfer I ever played with who used a one iron. As my brother said Rest in Power.

Ralph was one of nature’s gentlemen. Concerned as a host that you were comfortable and enjoying yourself in his company. Never a critical word about anyone, while being a keen observer of human nature. He will be missed so much.

I am part of Ralph's extended family on the MacDougall , McCarthy side for some sixty six years out of my seventy six years. I never knew a man like him except perhaps my own dad. A kind and gentle man with a wide variety of views on politics to religion and more , yet never allowing any to infringe on his personal opinion and liking you as a friend. Condolences to Bill his brother and Tony a devote friend who made sure ralph had the creature comforts of life. He will be surely missed by all. Good by Uncle Ralph.

To Ralph's family and close friends. Been a long time since I've seen Ralph. I know he was tight with good family friend Mark Babineau and through my Dad Herb...I got to know him in my teenage years. What a tremendous fun loving personal guy. Very sad to see him go.
Good Bye Ralph.

My deepest condolences to Ralph’s family, extended family and friends. Ralph was my best buddy, my mentor, my greatest sidekick and helped me through more than he will ever know. Pauline and I will miss him dearly at our table where we shared a meal every Monday. He gave us the greatest compliment when he said “coming here is like coming home.” Our caucus meetings on Monday and Wednesday are forever changed but will continue in his honour. My fondest memory will always be when he rode shotgun on our Great Newfoundland Tour. Rest easy ol’ buddy. You’ve given us all the tools to take it from here.
