Obituary of Marion Elizabeth MacKinnon

A kind and loving heart stopped beating on November 21, 2018 in the Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, surrounded by love.  Born July 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Jessie Gunn, Brule.  Marion is survived by sons, Morris (Marie) and Gordon (Mary Jane) of Toney River; daughters, Brenda (John) Zinck, Abercrombie; Maurita (Brian) Craig, Scotch Hill; Glenda Lee (Richie) Douglas, Dartmouth; and Isabel (Jimmie) Henderson, New Glasgow;  grandchildren, Karri Ann (Chuck), Lorne (Caroline), Kelli (Travis), Megan, Bobby (Kathryn), Wendy (Darcy), David (Kim), Jayne (Derek), Sean, Becky (Dennis), Megan, Erin, Julia and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Kassidy, Ariana, Morgan, Gabrielle, Sydney, Levi, Makayla, Alana, Wyatt, Emma, Brian, Duke and JR; sister-in-law, Helen Gunn, Brule; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Merton; two daughters in infancy; grandson, John MacKinnon; brother, Lloyd; sister, Mary.  Marion was a faithful member of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Ladies Aid, Bible Study and a life member of the AMS. Mom will be greatly missed but our hearts are filled with gratitude and wonderful memories.  Her positive attitude enduring faith and unconditional love were an inspiration to all.  As a nurse, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she devoted her life to helping others. Arrangements are under the care of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, from where visitation will be held Friday, November 23rd from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM.  Funeral will be Saturday, November 24th at 2PM from St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. David’s Presbyterian Church or Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
