I remember our family visiting Pictou growing up. Paul was quite often around, and always had a smile on his face. He would often joke around with us kids too.
He was a very kind man and I know he will be greatly missed by everyone who had the fortune to know him.
Deepest condolences to all the family.

My Sincere and Heartfelt Condolences to all those who were in Paul's life. In reading his Obit I can wholeheartedly attest to the fine gentleman he was as as coach having for him during my time with the Northumberland Junior Hockey League Pictou Maripacs. He was a true leader who put developing "Young Men before Young Hockey Players". In my time I have spent many years coaching hockey myself from minor hockey to Midget AAA to Junior C and B. I have always modelled myself after Coach Landrys example. Rest in Peace Paul. Heaven has gained a true angel.
Sincerely
John Currie

I am so sorry to hear about Paul’s passing. He was such a kind man. I have very fond memories of visiting Pictou and seeing Paul and Sandra. They were so patient with myself and my siblings as we forced them into watching dance performances, taking us for walks, and listening to our stories. Very special people indeed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!

What can I say that has not been said in these messages. No fake news here!! Their marriage, the community involvement, the helping hand, the strong faith. Sandra and Paul you both are a witness for all of us to try harder. Try to follow your example. I saw Paul's picture today and it was the first time I saw a bit of Charles Sr. also looking back at me. Good Cap Pele stock. Prayers including the Rosary will be said.

Paul Landry was one of the great ones. I was fortunate to have Paul as my hockey coach on two occasions during my minor hockey “career”. I looked up to Paul – me as a 14year old Bantam right-winger – and equally so 40 years later as an adult. Paul was a genuine guy, solid in his beliefs, a rock-solid Red Wings fan, a great citizen. He had a positive word for everyone. Talking to Paul Landry, it seemed that the sun shone every single day. If this world were populated by 8 billion Paul Landrys, we certainly would be in a far better world (in addition to there being lots more Detroit fans of course) I also worked to help Paul as his campaign manager in his political quest. Although we lost, we had lots of fun and no regrets during the campaign. (in that respect I joked with Paul that we had identical records: zero wins and two losses). As he said, we fought the good fight. Recently, obviously I never gave any thought to that time in August that as I sat with Paul in a coffee shop – that this would be the last time I would chat with him. I don’t even remember the specific conversation but I do remember his ever-positive ways. I harbour the advice that Paul gave me 45 years ago – “keep your stick on the ice – things will happen if you do so”. And they did. Thanks Paul.

To Sandra, Family and extended family..........I am so so sorry for your loss. Several weeks ago I was able to speak to Paul on the phone and could tell he was battling hard but along with that a sense of hope. For many kids growing up in town, he had a huge impact on their lives with minor sports being one and in particular hockey. He had so much passion for the game, cared so much about his players, so generous with his time, and so respectful to volunteers and officials all around. More than anything you could not wait to get to the rink because he cared about you, engaged you, made sure you had fun and equipped you with some great " one liners" along the way. I can visualize him now with a set of " wings" from his favourite NHL team. I will never forget Paul Landry..
