BOUTILIER, Blaine Herbert

Dartmouth / Caribou River

Age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22 with loving family by his side after a brief battle with cancer in the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou.  Blaine was born in Marriott’s Cove, Lunenburg County, a son of the late Borden and Ena (Armstrong) Boutilier.  He was a passionate and dedicated salesman, winning awards along the way.  He always said he couldn’t wait to get up in the morning and go to work.  In 1978, he bought his own automotive parts business, but regretfully had to give it up in 1986 due to ill health.  He was a great lover of classic cars and enjoyed going to car shows in the Maritimes.  Blaine is survived by his wife, Brenda (Boates); son, Chris (Carly Currie); and daughter, Jill (Trevor Nicholson); special brothers-in-law, Barry (Heather) MacLean, Red (Cheryl) MacKean, Kevin (Debbie) Boates; and many extended family including much loved nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bailey.  Blaine was predeceased by his brother, Burnell.  Although only a three month resident of the Oddfellows Home, he adjusted quickly and it became a home he loved.  He bragged about having the best caregivers and lit up when the wonderful staff entered his room, always ready for a laugh.  Thank you to Blaine’s caregivers over the past three years, and special mention to John, Marsha, Rosemary, Ann and Helen.  Cremation has taken place.  Memorial Service will be held 3:30 PM on Friday, December 28, with reception to follow at Atlantic Funeral Home, Main Street, Dartmouth.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Blaine’s memory may be made to Camp Brigadoon (5523A Young St, Halifax, B3K 1Z7) or a charity of your choice.

“ I am at peace, my soul’s at rest

There is no need for tears

For with your love I was so blessed

For all those many years.”
