Lester Gordon Clarke of Pictou, son of the late Lester & Lillian (Hansford) Clarke, passed away after a brief illness January 8, 2019 at the age of 80, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.  He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 34 years, Elsie (Prest/Buchanan) Clarke; son, Glenn (Christine) Clarke; daughter, Robin (Chuck Moore) Ratz; stepson, Barry (Karrie Hoover) Buchanan; stepdaughters, Heather (Brendan McGlynn) Buchanan, Holly Buchanan; grandchildren, Emily, Connor, Chalena, Kirstianna, Victoria, John, Noah, Sawyer, Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Nova and Cove; nieces and nephews.  He will be lovingly missed by brothers, Zane Clarke, James (May) Clarke; and sister, Sybil Smith.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Nina (Bowen).  He worked as an orderly at Brantford General Hospital, Kaiser Coal Mines, Sparwood, BC as a driller and foreman,   Northumberland Ferries Ltd., and operated his own trucking business.  Gordon was well known for his cemetery stone repair and maintenance work.  He enjoyed camping, playing pool and snooker, and doing wood working projects.  Cremation has taken place.  There will be no visitation or service at his request.  Donations in his memory can be made to the Pictou County SPCA or the Canadian Diabetes Association, Pictou County.  www.mclarenfuneral.ca
