 Anderson Alexander MacDonald

January 17, 1929 – January 11, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anderson MacDonald at the Aberdeen Hospital.  Born January 17, 1929, he was the son of the late James C and Minnie (Holmes) MacDonald of Waterside.  A lifelong farmer, he spent many hours of each day in his barn and or in the field.  He loved to help his family and friends who had a mechanical breakdown or need things repaired.  He quit school in Grade 4 to support his family and remained farming until he was forced to slow down and “retire” and take it easy three years ago.  He prided himself as the last cream producer in Nova Scotia until the time of his “retirement”.  A lover of old tyme and folk music, he particularly enjoyed hearing his grandniece Rebecca play a few tunes.  Anderson was predeceased by his sister, Clara; brother-in-law, Donald as well as his parents.  He is survived by niece, Diane Ross; grandniece, Rebecca Ross, and many cousins and good friends.  Visitation will be 7-9 PM Tuesday and Funeral Service 3 PM on Wednesday, both in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, Rev. Shelly Chandler will officiate.  Burial in the Riverbank Cemetery, Toney River, with a reception to follow at the Caribou Fire Hall.  Donations may be made to a CARMA, the SPCA or charity of choice. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
