FERGUSON, A. Graham

Hardwood Hill

With sad and heavy hearts, the Ferguson family announce the passing of Arthur Graham Ferguson.  Graham passed away on March 2, 2019 at his home with his family surrounding him.  He was born October 23, 1952 in Pictou, to the late Art and Elsie Ferguson.  Graham was only 5 when he started to fish on the Northumberland Straight with his father, and he remained a proud member of the fishing community for the rest of his life.  Fishing was his passion and he was grateful to be able to make it his career.  His passion was shared with his family and many of their fondest memories were on the water or over a feed of lobster.  He loved having a crowd around.  Everyone was always welcome and he could always entertain with a laugh or two.  He loved his family very much and his grandsons brought him the most joy.  Graham is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Amy (Tim), Laura (Matt); grandchildren, Maclean, Owen, Abreanna and Luca; sisters, Jacqueline (Colin), Helen (Clinton), Robin, and Beverly (Dan); nieces and nephews, Brent, Ted, Jill, Jody, Ricky, Zack, Luke and Riley; sister-in-law, Donna (Paul) and their daughter Sarah; special companion, Lucy.  The family would like to thank all those who helped to support him throughout this long journey.  He wanted to fish as long as he could – and be at home as long as he was able.  Many people supported him in these goals.  We will be forever grateful.  Donations in Graham’s memory may be made to the VON Pictou County, the Palliative Care Society, or a charity of your choice. Family flowers only please.  Visitation will take place at McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou on Wednesday March 6th from 6-9 PM.  Funeral service will be held at Lyons Brook United Church on Thursday March 7th at 2 PM.  Reception to follow downstairs.  Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at a later date.  www.mclarenfuneral.ca
