Obituary of Ronald Douglas Munro

Family, friends and neighbors were saddened to learn of Ron’s sudden death on May 10, 2019 after a tenacious 13 year battle with cancer.  Ron grew up in River John and spent his working life primarily in the fishing industry in various capacities.  He was a passionate sportsman playing hockey, baseball and golf.  He could always be counted upon to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife, Alison McCara; his children, James Alexander and Catherine Elizabeth; his sisters, Sandra MacKay, Marilyn (Keith) Heighton; his brothers, Barry (Nancy), David (Ann Marie); his sister-in-law, Linda Munro; his uncle, Earl Holt; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Kathleen (Holt); his brother, Charles and his brother-in-law, Bill MacKay.  Ron was blessed with many great friends and cherished the time he spent with them.  Visitation will be held in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, NS. from 4-8pm on Monday, May 13th.  A Service of Remembrance will take place at St George’s Presbyterian Church, River John NS. at 2pm on Tuesday, May 14th with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating.  To honour Ron’s memory, please lend support to a friend or neighbor battling cancer. Donations to The Lodge that Gives, Halifax, NS would also be greatly appreciated.
