FRASER, James R.

Toney River

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad, James Richard Fraser.  After a long courageous battle with cancer, dad passed away at the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit on Oct 21, 2019.  Dad was born in Pictou on May 27, 1960.  He loved being outside, he was a fisherman’s helper and a carpenter.  He enjoyed his daily walks around the community.  Dad was always a team player.  He played darts and baseball.  He was a member of the Old Puckers hockey team for many years.  His first love in sports was hockey.  He was a die-hard Boston Bruins fan.  He could tell you the players and the stats of years gone by.  Most times dad would have both the radio and TV on at the same time so he didn't miss any of the sports scores.  Dad was a kind and quiet person.  He did not hold malice in his heart toward anyone which is why he had a calm nature.  Dad had a very dry sense of humor, and would often come up with jokes of his own which made no sense but made us laugh all the same.  Dad was predeceased by his parents, James and Shannon Fraser, Toney River.  He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Fraser and Stefanie Fraser-Shepherd (Danny); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, Tristan and Rayna.  He is also survived by sisters, Peggy Scanlan and Frances Marshall; nieces and nephews.  He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.  As by request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Sat, Oct 26, 2019 in the Toney River Community Hall from 2-4pm.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Travel Fund.  www.mclarenfuneral.ca
