Ralph Murray Peckham -80 (October 23, 1939 - November 17, 2019)

It is with broken hearts, yet gratitude for a life well-lived, that the family of Ralph Murray Peckham announce his peaceful passing at home on November 17th, 2019.  Ralph was the son of the late Anna and Arthur Peckham.  Ralph was the most amazing husband, dad, brother, uncle, step-dad, Grampy and G-Pa.  His many friends knew him as a kind, gentle soul who was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Ralph leaves behind his wife, Brenda; daughters, Jo-Anne Peckham (Luigi) and Tammy McDonald (Stephen); grandchildren, Alicia (Pearl), Brianna (Ben), Andrew (Heidi), Emily (Travis); step-children, Scott Thorne (Angela), Stacey Pettipas (Kevin); step-grandchildren, Cecil, Daniel, Alanah (Evan), Skyler; special G-Pa to Weston who brought him much joy.  Ralph also leaves behind sisters, Audrey Sutherland, Karen Weston and Sheila Peckham.  Ralph was predeceased by his first wife, Stella, of 47 years; and their much-loved dog, Fred.  They took great pride in the family they raised, and joy in time spent with their grandchildren.  Ralph was a member for more than 50 years of Local 244 Pipefitters’ Union, working throughout Canada and the US over the years to provide for his family, making many friends near and far.

Ralph had an immense love of music, and passed this passion onto many, especially his grandchildren.  He was an incredible guitar player and was known for his harmonic singing voice.  There were many friends made during the years of camping and music jams. Ralph loved his time in the woods, where he spent countless hours.  His life will be celebrated with visitation at McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, on Wednesday, November 20th from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21st at 11AM, from McLaren Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial in Seaview Cemetery, with reception to follow in the Stella Maris Parish Hall.  To pay tribute to Ralph’s love of music, we invite his family and friends to bring their instruments and singing voices to the reception for a casual jam session.  Donations in Ralph’s memory can be made to the ALS Society (NS/NB) or your local food bank.
