McNEILL, Mary F. ‘Faye’ Pictou McNeill Mary Florence “Faye”- Born February 28, 1922 in Inverness NS, the eldest daughter of the late Norman MacDonald and Catherine White passed away December 25, 2019 in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou. Faye was a member of the Stella Maris Parish in Pictou serving over 50 years in the Catholic Women’s League and for many years she was the Brown Owl for the Parish Brownie Pact. For over 20 years Faye and her daughter Winnie operated a beauty salon from her home on Wellington Street. During World War II, Faye worked in the Pictou shipyards as a template marker for the plate riveters. At this time she boarded in Stellarton and with a few other girls took daily cab rides to the shipyards in Pictou. The handsome young cab driver Paul McNeill caught her eye and they were married on a very stormy winter day on February 3, 1944. Surviving is her daughter, Winnifred “Winnie“ Chisholm; sisters, Margie (Sonny) MacKinnon, Lorraine (Colin) Campbell, Joanne (Bernie) Macintyre; 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Paul, Sarah, Jay, Katherine, Christine; 9 great-grandchildren, Sonny, Brady, Owen, Isaac, Alexis, Ryan, Logan, Scarlet and Charley. Faye was predeceased by her husband, Paul Gerald McNeill; daughter, Geraldine Rankin; son, Norman; and sisters, Agnes, Theresa, Christine, Isabel and Catherine; brothers, Vincent, Angus and Neil. Family flowers only. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, January 3rd from 2-5 PM in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, January 4th at 11 AM from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service in the Stella Maris Parish Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Stella Maris Cemetery Fund or DASC Dartmouth Adult Service Center http://www.dasc-ns.ca/.
