Obituary of Minnie Georgina MacPhail

It is with great sadness that her family wishes to announce the passing of Minnie Georgina MacPhail on December 30th 2019. Born in Pictou, she was the daughter of the late Hiarm and Sarah (Rudolph) Shea. Minnie grew up on the farm and attended Dawson School. She worked for Hamilton Biscuit Company for many years but her greatest job was being a stay at home mom. She was married to her best friend, Thomas G. MacPhail for over 40 years and gave such love and devotion. Minnie's greatest pride and joy was her family and her cats. She had one great hobby which was the love of flowers and gardening. She always had a plant growing somewhere in the house. Her outside garden was adorned with various annuals, perennials and vegetables. Her other passion was the love of animals, Having a horse, many dogs and cats. She leaves behind her two cats whom she loved Charlie and Ash. Always in our hearts and never forgotten, forever smiling in our memories. She is survived by her daughter, Sara; son, Eric; brothers, Ernie (Hazel), Jim (Georgia) and Donnie (Eleanor). She was blessed with two wonderful grandsons whom she loved and lived for, Tyler and John; their father and friend Brian; niece, Aleatha; Nephew, Jim, who were not just family but great friends to Minnie. Good friend and sister-in-law, Zelma Shea and also several nieces and nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brothers, Roy, John, Bob, Percy and Alfred and also by her sisters, Jean (John Dalton) and Eleanor (Lloyd Foance). Cremation has taken place, a public Graveside Service will be held in St. James Cemetery, Pictou on Monday, January 6th 2020 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donation in Minnie’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
