WATT, Mary MacKay -91, of Pictou passed away February 14, 2020 in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou. Born in Three Brooks, she was a daughter of the late William & Bessie (Murray) Grant. Mary enjoyed her retirement after working over 30 years at Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital as a Senior Lab Technician. Mary and Bobby spent summers at the cottage and travelled to warm places in the winter. She was a dedicated volunteer her entire life, volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary, Princess Rebekah Lodge No. 4, Pictou, Meals on Wheels, and many other organizations. Mary was an Elder at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and dedicated her life to being involved in all aspects of the church. She especially enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and family in B.C. Mary enjoyed entertaining her many close friends and family at their beautiful home and cottage. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. “Bobby” Watt; son, David Steinberg; sisters, Winnie (Forsee), Muriel (Miller), Mabel Gertrude; and brother, John George. She is survived by her son, Mark Watt and daughter in-law, Janice, West Kelowna, BC; grandsons Jeremy, Nanaimo and Matthew, North Vancouver; sisters, Jean Matheson, Halifax and Iris Solie (Alan), New Westminster. Mary also is survived by many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family with special love for all the kindness from nephews, John (Anne) and David (Janice) Miller. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Shelly Chandler officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at a later date in Haliburton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer Society Canada, Research Program or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
