RILEY, James B. Kentville RILEY, James Burton, It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Riley, of Kentville, formerly of Pictou on Friday March 6, where he was surrounded by his faithful family, at the SSRH in Bridgewater. Born in North Sydney on December 10, 1950, he was the baby of the family. Born to Gerald and Edith (Leckey) and survived by his sisters, Geraldine Burke (Edward), Pictou; Mary Lou Milligan, Mill Cove; nieces, Rachael Bennett (Arnold), Pictou; Fionna Milligan (Brad), East River; nephews, Peter Burke (Bev), Scotsburn; Andrew Burke (Tracey), Thorburn; Matthew Burke (Michelle), Pictou; great niece, Shauna Burke, Eastern Passage; great nephews, Riley Bennett and Kristopher Burke, Pictou; and Robert and Daniel Norwod, East River. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Edith and step mother Eva. Jim attended and graduated from Pictou Academy in 1968 then went on to St. FX University where he earned a BSc, graduating in 1973. In 1974 he started at Michelin Tire and worked there for over 30 years holding many different positions. He quietly enjoyed retirement, always making time to see family on special occasions and holidays. He always helped his family even when they didn't ask, he somehow just knew. Always the silly one, he was affectionately known as Uncle Goofy. Special thanks to the RNs Alicia, Monica and Shannon who went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable during this time. Also thanks to Dr. Chaisson and Dr. Thibodeau at the SSRH. Thanks also have to go to Shannon from VON for being so caring. An additional expression of gratitude to Sheila Deveau whose kindness during Jim's last year was so much appreciated. Finally thanks to all of the Doctors and Specialists along the way Dr. Seaman, Dr. Musgrave, Dr. Rendon and Dr. Butler. Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will be held in the spring at Stella Maris Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
