To Maryanne, Aaron and Ike: Our sincere condolences to you and your family on the death of your mother. My connection to your Mom took place many years ago (1972). I was a "helper" to Kaye when she was a teacher at a special pre-school program held in the mornings at Pictou United Church. I believe the program was for four-year olds. Kaye had a wonderful rapport with the kids - always in control and always kind. I know she helped many pre-schoolers think that grade primary wouldn't be so bad after all!.My last memory of Kaye was seeing her sitting in your sunporch, enjoying he warm sun..
Sincerely, (neighbours) Gordon and Peggy

To the MacNeil family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time as you mourn the passing of your Mom. It has been interesting speaking with my Mom this week and learning more about the Chisholm family and their difficult times when they were young. Hopefully, all the treasured memories you have with your Mom will help you get through this.

So sorry to hear about your dear mother Maryanne, Aaron, Isaac and your entire extended family. I first met Kaye at Glen Haven Manor. It was there that she became a wonderful friend to my grandmother, Betty MacRae. They shared a table in the dining room and met regularly in the manor. I enjoyed listening to and chatting with her as she sat with my Nan. Your matriarch is at rest now and she will never be forgotten.

I have vivid memories of when, Kaye, your mom taught a few of us catechism to help us on our faith journeys (upper elementary school age). Maryanne and Micker would sometimes come into the kitchen area while we were in the dining area. Funny how about 5 years later in Grade 10, I became close friends with Micker. Then out of university, I did a term contract at Patterson Elementary with your mom there. She was wonderful and a class act. God bless! Love John, Michelle, and Family in Ontario

What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful lady. I, proudly, am one of Aunt Kaye's many nephews and have fond memories of her from my childhood. My brother Myles and I were fortunate enough to get to visit her in 2014, after meeting up with Colin at Partners Construction office in Pictou. Our cousin graciously offered to take us to visit her at Shiretown. Although her eyesight was severely impaired, she was as sharp as a tack and reminded me so much of our dear mother Mary. ( Like you, Elaine, I recall your visit so many years ago, and mistakenly tugged at your Mommy's skirt, thinking she was my own mom.) To all my MacNeil cousins, when you think of the struggles these beautiful women went through, we must surely realize how fortunate we were to have had them in our lives. Claude & Margie Glenn

I have so many favourite memories of Grammie. Some are fuzzy childhood memories and others are more distinct, but they all carry the same comforting feeling. Mostly, I will remember her strength, forward-thinking, and family values. I feel lucky to be part of the extended MacNeill clan. There are so many of us spread across the country and beyond, but it still feels like a close-knit unit, and I know that stems from Grammie. She was at the centre of our family, and her character is reflected in the way we all relate to one another. She will be deeply missed. xo

One of the things that I loved about Kaye was that she was always so “present”. No matter how many years had passed between our seeing each other, she would re-connect immediately, often with a question about me, or my family, that astonished me. How could she remember where I was at, with all the important people she had in her life? She would just quietly re-establish our connection, and immediately I would feel at ease.
Plus, she was always so interested! In everything!
I admired her so much. I will miss knowing she is in the world.
Much love to you all, Meredith

To the MacNeill Family:
I’m so sorry for the loss of your Mom (my Aunt). I remember Kaye visiting my Mom (Mary) on several occasions during my childhood. She was a very special lady.
I have two cherished photos of Kaye on display in my home—one of her with
Orvis, Mary & Frank and a really treasured
photo of her and Mom, both taken on their
wedding day. They were beautiful ladies.
Please accept my condolences and
remember that you’re in my thoughts and
