McGuire, James Bernard “Jim” -82, of Three Brooks, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2020, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born on May 7, 1938 in Selby, North Yorkshire, England, he was a son of the late Frank and Mollie McGuire. Jim Owned and operated the naval architect firm, J.B. McGuire Marine Associates Ltd. They were commissioned to research the particulars of the original Hector and develop blueprints for an accurate replica of the Ship Hector. After fighting bravely for a number of years with numerous health challenges, Jim is finally at peace and has gone to join other family members. He is survived by his partner, D. June MacLean and granddaughter, Cassidy Mason, both of Three Brooks; sons, Julian (Judy) McGuire, England; Greg (Tui) McGuire and their daughter, Katherine Ana, Hong Kong; sisters, Denise, Molly, Francine, all of England; brother, David, England, sister-in-law, Catherine (David) Davis, Three Brooks; brother-in-law, Arnold Younker, PEI; niece, Sandi (David) Wallace and their sons, Ben and Mac, New Glasgow. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter, Catherine; brothers, Mgr. Peter and Fred McGuire; parents-in-law, Cecil and Margaret MacLean; sister-in-law, Mabel Younker; brother-in-law, Charles MacLean. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at Seaview Cemetery with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Mental Health Foundation of NS, Canadian Cancer Society or the Lung Association of NS. Arrangements are entrusted to McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
