Obituary of Katherine Marie Brown

Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BROWN (Ives), Katherine Marie October 12th, 1948 – October 24th, 2020 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Kaye (age 72 years), of River John, NS. To some she was a Mom, Nanny, or sister, and to many she was a friend. Kaye was never shy of working hard and held many jobs throughout her years. Her proudest accomplishment was obtaining her Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) diploma while she worked at the Glen Haven Manor for 19 years. When Kaye was not working, she could be found relaxing in her home, gardening, attending church services, going for drives, visiting her friends and family, taking in community events, or volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary. She especially loved taking in the live music entertainment on the Lions Club veranda during River John Festival Days. Kaye also loved Christmas and often went for drives looking at Christmas lights. Kaye will be met at the heavenly gates by her late sons, Harold Ives and Richard Brown; mother, Lorraine Ives; father, Irving Ives; grandparents, Edith and Harold Langille, and Jessie and William Ives; sister, Heather Ives; ex-husband, Roddie Brown – love of her life; uncle, Arthur Langille (Dorothy); aunt, Edith Allan (Silver); and many other family and friends. Kaye is survived by her daughter, Cindy MacGregor (Gowan); son, Tim Brown; granddaughters, Alyssa Chisholm (Nathan), Brittany Boss (Matthew), and Casey MacGregor; grandson, Dylan Brown; great-grandson, Nolan Chisholm; brothers, Billy Ives (Bev), Jimmy Ives, Ronnie Ives (Kathy); sisters, Brenda Ives, Irene Langille (Jimmy), and Sheila Ives; brother-in-law, Brian Langille; cousin and dear friend, Aggie MacLellan; and many (great) nieces and nephews. Our family would like to send a special thanks to the VON workers, staff at the Maritime Oddfellows Home, and Dr. Randy Burrill for taking care of Kaye. A funeral service will be held for family and friends at the Mountain Road Cemetery on Tuesday, October 27th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Mountain Road Cemetery. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
