MacDONALD, H. Geraldine (Gray) Scotch Hill Helen “Geraldine” (Gray) MacDonald - 81, of Scotch Hill, passed away peacefully October 25, 2020 at home. Born on March 29, 1939 in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late Fred & Jessie (Davis) Gray. Geraldine married Harry MacDonald in 1957. She is survived by Harry and their children, Eleanor (Keith) Hiltz, Eric (Beverly Holmes) MacDonald, Harold, Kenneth, Lori (Leroy Goodall) MacDonald; granddaughter, Adele (DJ) Byrne; great-grandson, Brycen Byrne; brother, Roy Gray; many nieces and nephews; special cousin, Dee Brown; special nephew, Brad Gray; aunt, Dorothy Jamieson. She was predeceased by their oldest son, Lloyd in 2005; sister, Dorothy Sutherland; brothers, Jimmy, Reg, Robert, Donnie and Doug Gray. Mom was an avid baker and a good cook. She had a magical touch when she made her pies. She was well known for always having lots of baked goodies for anyone who dropped in. Mom went to work at Maritime Packers in the early 70’s. From 1974 to 1976 she worked at Michelin. From there she went to the Braeside Inn as a cook and baker. In 1980 she found her calling, driving the school bus until she retired. Mom loved picking all types of berries, starting at a very early age. She drove the blueberry bus, taking the rakers to the fields for Davis Thompson. For many years she couldn’t wait for strawberry season, picking for the MacLean’s. Mom had lots of hobbies including knitting and doing lexicon puzzles. A Public Graveside Service will be held Thursday at 11 AM in the Scotch Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Donations in Geraldine’s memory may be made to the SPCA. COVID-19 restrictions in effect. Public is encourage to bring seating accommodations.
