Obituary of Allan Calder Fraser

FRASER, Allan C. Pictou / Merigomish FRASER, Allan Calder - 77, of Pictou, and formerly of Merigomish, passed away March 28th , 2021. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Rev. J.R. Calder and Myrtle (Olding) Fraser. Al worked at a variety of jobs including as an apprentice at Fairey Canada Limited in Dartmouth, he taught industrial arts at Bicentennial Junior High in Dartmouth and was a realtor in Bedford before working 35 years at Michelin in Granton. Al lived a full life even after 2 liver transplants and many health problems. His two passions in life were cars and sailing. He never let anything stop him and spent many summers sailing on ‘Deliverance’ to the beautiful Bras d’Or Lakes. Al also took his prize Volvo that he restored to many car shows. He is survived by his spouse, Alta Munroe, Pictou; daughter, Shelley Strickland (Chris), Little Harbour; son, Jeffrey Fraser (Shannon), Truckee, California; and their mother, Carol (Kidston) Fraser, New Glasgow; granddaughters Ashleigh & Bryden Strickland, Little Harbour; stepdaughters, Allayna Munroe (Jason), Bayview; Sandi Munroe (Jonathan), Port Hawkesbury; step daughter-in-law, Taryn Munroe, Scotsburn and families; sister, Anne Fraser (Kevin), New Glasgow; and brothers, Robert Fraser (Betsy) Dartmouth, John Fraser (Lynn) Victoria, British Columbia, and Peter Fraser (Yumiko), RYUO, Japan, and families. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Rocky. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his stepson, Carlton Munroe. Visitation will be held 6-8PM Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou Yacht Club or the Merigomish United Church.
