PATRIQUIN, Virginia O. Scotsburn With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Virginia Olive Patriquin, aged 84, of Scotsburn on August 3, 2021 at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in River Hebert in 1936, she was the daughter of Jack and Olive (McAleese) Green of River Hebert. She made her home in the community of Scotsburn for the past 61 years with her husband Ernie Patriquin who passed away earlier this year. She was employed locally throughout her life at Hamilton’s Cookie factory, West Pictou District Elementary and High School and Canada Post. Virginia loved to laugh and spent many years honing her prankster skills. She was an avid quilter and cribbage player and very much enjoyed watching hockey and cheering on her favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leaf’s. She was a devoted member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Scotsburn, the New Horizon’s Senior’s Club in Pictou and was an active volunteer in her community. Being quite the baker, her home-made donuts were well known and were on many Christmas lists. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed. Virginia leaves behind daughter, Heather Patriquin and son-in-law, Yash Srivastava of Scotsburn; also survived by brother, Floyd (Isabelle) Green; sister, Susan (Peter) Fraser, all of Pictou County; brother-in-law, Gerald (Mary) Patriquin, Ontario; sister-in-law, Helen Patriquin, Halifax; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernie Patriquin and parents, Jack and Olive Green; sisters, Lois (Fred) Betts, Pictou; Joyce (Ivan) Jollota, Amherst; Phyllis Green, Pictou; brother, John (Freida) Green, Pictou; stepmother, Irene Green, Pictou; sister-in-law, Alma Hiltz, River John. Arrangements have been entrusted to McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. A private funeral will be held on Sunday, August 8 at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Scotsburn following which burial will take place at the Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn or the New Horizons Senior’s Club, Pictou.
