DOUGLAS, Robert Alexander ‘Bob’ -87, passed away suddenly Monday January 24, 2022 in Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche. Born on February 22, 1934 in Middleton Corner, he was a son of the late George and Annie (MacCarthy) Douglas. He is survived by his wife, Elva (Langille); son, Peter and his wife, Jeanette (who was like a daughter to him); grandchildren, Burton (Annie), Michael (Melanie); and brother, Colin. Bob was a hard worker, starting in the woods at age 13. His first power saw weighed 50lbs but was faster than an axe and crosscut saw. He then started trucking, first hauling logs then got into the gravel business, which kept him very busy 6 days a week working with contractors and his own private business. He was very smart and could operate anything he put his mind to. One of his favourite jobs before retiring was a snow plow operator, he really enjoyed getting out early and keeping the roads clear. He was a good husband of 65 years and a wonderful father and grandfather. Bob and Elva always had horses around, some work and some pleasure which they enjoyed showing at the exhibitions over the years. A very special thank you to all the employees of Willow Lodge for the great care he was given from the nurses, who he called ‘his girls’. Also a thank you to Dr. Roebuck and Martha Underwood. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all that knew him. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Willow Lodge.
