I am so sad to have found this today, this is a very belated but heartfelt note. I will miss flying with you my friend. You had adventure in your heart, a keen mind and a good sense of humor.

My deepest sympathies to Barry's family and friends, and I count myself among his friends. He was one of the first people I met when I joined Michelin's data processing department in 1978, He was surely one of the most memorable and one of the finest people I think I've ever met. This world is poorer with his passing.

Sad news, Barry was such an easy going guy, He would always stop for a chat whenever I waved a hello and would be there with advice or equipment whenever it looked like I could use some.
Barry was always easy going, positive and happy and will be missed by us, his next door neighbours, the Bakers, Louise, Vince, Dorian and Sochi.

We are very sad to learn of Barry's passing. We send sincere condolences to Gerta and all of Barry's family and friends.
Barry was a free spirit. We enjoyed watching him sail his colorful sailboat in Caribou harbor and would smile at him buzzing down the road in his red sports car. If the sun was shining the top was down, despite what the temperature was. He was always on the move. He was always willing to help or give advice on a mechanical problem and he helped solve many problems for us throughout the years.
And he was humble. Reading his obituary and all the adventures and experiences he had throughout his life we regret not being able to discuss and hear more about them from him.
Smooth sailing, Barry..

During the time that the Wrigley family lived in Pictou County, Barry was an important member of our sailing crew (aboard the good ship "Ketchup") and our family.
Barry possessed an incredible wit that could leave us bent over with laughter even hours after he told a story or tale. I always wondered what attracted him to our little 22 foot Tanzer, especially since he sailed much larger boats on the Great Barrier Reef. Between their mutual love of sailing and building, he and my Dad Bill had such a great camaraderie. The attached picture shows the great day when Barry finally turned the hull of the boat that he was building. Lots of physics, lines, strength and beer made that happen. I have my own fond memories of sailing with my Dad and Barry in the Charlottetown to Shediac race around 1978 or 1979. It was quite the adventure because of Barry.
My condolences to Barry's family, to Gerta and to the Van Vulpens.

This message is from the Wrigley family who had the privilege of knowing Barry.
There may be some hidden pictures that someone in our family has of Barry but the attached one is the only one I could find.
That's Barry on the starboard/leeward side trimming the Genoa. Yes, Barry sure knew how to sail. My Dad Bill, My brother Bill and myself (Derek) always enjoyed having him aboard Ketchup.
One of the better memory's my family had of Barry when we lived down in Nova Scotia was his invitation every Xmas to come to his place and search his spread for a Xmas tree. My sisters Connie, Heidi and especially My Mom Cherie very much enjoyed this event. For such a short time that we knew Barry, many memories were made.
As my Father had passed away last year, I know for sure that He and Barry will be meeting up very soon to set sail again.
