BURTON, Russell J.
Pictou / River John
It is with great sadness that the Burton Family announces the passing of their brother, Russell Joseph Burton, of River John, at the age of 67 on May 21, 2022. He was born in Arichat on November 21, 1954 to Carl and Edith (Fougere) Burton. Russell was a carpenter by trade. Some people say he was born with a hammer in his hand. He worked at Brenton Industrial and Marine in Port Hawkesbury with his Father before moving to Pictou. He worked in Pictou then moved to Ontario to continue his passion. After a few years he moved back to Pictou County. Once again, the road called him and he moved to Edmonton, Alberta. He worked there for a few years but Pictou was always his home so he returned, where he worked until his retirement in 2020. He was an avid hunter and would go hunting with his brothers; he loved his deer steak. He also played baseball with Sargents Mess in Pictou. He always had a smile for you and loved talking to people. Russell is survived by his son, Kyle; his brothers, Carl Jr. "Buster" (Donna), Aulds Cove; Billy (Patsy), Preston (Lori), both of Pictou; Garfield (Kathy) Sussex, NB; and Brian (Threasa), Truro; his sisters, Joan (the late Eldred) Richards, Pleasantville; Shirley (John "Theo") Landry and Darlene (Donnie) Fraser, both of Pictou; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his fur baby Ruby whom he thought the world of. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Larry "Sonny"; and a sister, Jean Doiron. There will be no funeral or mass. Cremation has taken place and his ashes being scattered at a later date. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the 4th floor and 5th Palliative Care. Donations in Russell's memory may be made to Palliative Care, Aberdeen Hospital. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
