Haliburton
Delbert William Joseph Gordon Welsh – 52, of Haliburton, Pictou County, passed away the afternoon of August 9th 2022 due to complications of Diabetes in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. He was born in New Glasgow to his parents Mable and Clifford Welsh. Delbert was raised by his Aunt Murriel and was an extremely outgoing kid but he had some challenges along the way. He couldn't hear or speak for quite some time and developed a learning disabilty. This didn't slow him down much though. At a young age he went to work for King Freight Lines as a shop helper. In his spare time he was a volunteer fireman at several departments in Pictou County. When summer came Delbert was always helping out at the Pictou Exhibition and the Pictou Lobster Carnival. He was a fixture there and it seemed everyone knew him. Delbert was an extremely kind soul and if you needed help and asked him it was never refused. He also never met a pizza he didn't like! Delbert was predeceased by his wife, Josephine (MacKenzie); and infant son, Gordon; birth parents, Mable and Clifford Welsh. He is survived by his son, George; mother, Murriel (George) Bezanson; sisters, Darlene Heighton (Ronald) and Wanda Crawford (Alan); half brother and sister, Jerry and Charlene Welsh; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held 2-4 PM Tuesday August 16th in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to any of the Fire Departments of Pictou County, the Pictou-North Colchester Exhibition, or the Pictou Lobster Carnival.
