GAIR, Karolee Rita (nee Johnson) –
Ontario
The world became a sadder place late in the evening of May 15th, 2022 as the Blood Moon lunar eclipse started. It is with absolutely shattered hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Karolee Gair in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She is survived by her best friend and dance partner, Dan Brochu. Mother of heartbroken children, Danny Langille, Jessica Gair (Chris Laughlin) and Emily Gair. ‘Bonus Mom’ to Daniel Brochu (Melissa McMaster) and Patrick Brochu (Kristen Heise). Adored ‘Gogo’ of Jenna Brochu (Robby Boissneau), Isabella Lecuyer-Gair, Mya Brochu, Nicholas Heise, Alyvia Heise Shyla Brochu, Ava Brochu, Jack Laughlin and Benjamin Laughlin. Karolee is predeceased by her parents, John Johnson and Evelyn Rose Johnson (nee MacNamara). Karolee is now reunited with her big brother and best friend, Jack Johnson, her favourite sister-in-law, Joan Johnson and her younger brother, Malcolm McNeil. She leaves behind her soul-sister, confidant and best friend, Janice Johnson Wolchuk (Jerry Wolchuk). She was a loving aunt to, Shilah Wolchuk (Roger Holmes) and Mallory (Nick) Collins. She also leaves behind some East Coast family – Cousin, Robert (Jane) Johnson, the O’Laney and MacAuclay clans. Karolee was born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Born and raised a typical East Coaster, she had the undeniable ability to light up any room with her contagious and beautiful smile. She was known for her kindness, her joie de vivre and her incredible capacity to make anyone in her company feel loved and important. Anyone who knew her, or even crossed paths with her knew that she was a tiny woman whose spirit and palpable energy was truly larger than life. She worked selflessly as a nurse for 30 years and devoted her career to serving a population of primarily vulnerable people, where she could bring joy to them at their hardest times. Karolee touched the lives of many. So many in fact, that we have missed naming many people. She was a second mother to so many people. She was a special friend to; Mary Hummel, Arlene Heins, Tracy Heins, Koren and Logan Arthur, Trish and G Secondi, Christine Van Laar, Gail Londry, Carolyn Burkitt, Patti Gair, Marion Koprash, Janna Laughlin, and Sheila Heise. We would like to thank Sault Area Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion during this difficult time – especially Dr. Bakar, Dr. DiFabio, the ICU staff. Thank you to RNs Megan and Shauna, you ladies are simply earth angels. A graveside service will be held August 22 at 1 PM in Riverbank Cemetery with Jacquie Ross officiating. Donations can be made to Van Daele Manor or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation - Cancer Care Clinic, as these places meant the world to Karolee.
