PATTERSON, Irene M.
Toney Mills
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our “one of a kind” mom Irene Mildred Patterson on October 2, 2022, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with family by her side. Irene was the daughter of the late James and Roseanna (Holmes) Gollan of Melville on July 29, 1923. She is survived by her sons, James (Donna), Gary (Beverly), Neil; Daughter, Holly (Reg) Langille; 10 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren; sister, Laura Elliott; sisters-in-law, Gayle, Jessie Schmidt; brother- in-law, Bobby Langille and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband, James (1987); daughter, Jill (2000); siblings, Jessie, Ann, Bob, Iola, David, Lily, Angus, Lloyd, George, Charles, Zelna and Valerie. Mom was a hard worker all her life, besides raising her family she helped dad out on the farm. She also was a seasonal worker at National Seafoods in Caribou, NS until it closed. Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grand and great-grandchildren, the loves of her life. Mom loved all animals especially horses. She was a big fan of the Kentucky Derby. She loved a good game of cards and a good cup of tea (with canned milk) and was a good cook. You could always find her sitting outside taking in the view or watching the birds at the feeders. Her eyesight wasn’t the best nor was her hearing, but she finally agreed to hearing aids. Mom never complained about anything, she took everything in stride. Cremation has taken place and a public graveside service will be held on October 7th at 2 PM in Riverbank Cemetery with Jacquie Ross officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the S.P.C.A or Campbell’s Point Cemetery.
Oh the things she would have seen in and the many people she would have known in her lifetime.
