My deepest sympathy to Elizabeth's family. I worked with the Bethel congregation for eight months while Rev. Lara was on sabbatical. Elizabeth was a constant source of support and information as the clerk of session. She made my time there much easier than it could have been. We also shared many laughs. I pray God surrounds all of you with comfort and peace.

She was with my mom on the 5th floor in May and they were absolutely adorable together. I think they actually tried to break out together at one point. She was the sweetest lady - always checked to make sure mom ate her meals

Sincerest sympathies Donna and family. My memories of Elizabeth include those of your father, and their excitement when you were born. Those displays of pride, support and love were always present when we met, if it be in a school setting, or the grocery store. Your have been so fortunate having her as the matriarch of your family. May your memories sustain you all during these difficult days.

Donna, Rob, Gabe and Patrick: My sincere condolences on Elizabeth's passing. I remember her fondly when I was growing up and as a favourite teacher. Most days on my way to work, I would see her walking and we would always exchange big waves and smiles. What a good way to start a morning! Every time we were together, she would be so interested in everything we were all up to, and always had something funny to say. I will forever smile when I think of her.

Mrs. Byers was such an amazing teacher. She read to us and taught us at an early age to ask questions and develop our imaginations. Some of us had very hard home lives, she was always there for us with a kind word and a heart felt hug. When I think of people who effected many peoples lives in a positive way I think of her. She was one of those teachers who remembered you long after you left her classroom. The memory of her I love most was of her sitting by the window reading to our grade 3 class The BFG, James and the Giant Peach, and other stories. We love you Mrs Byers, thank you for being an amazing teacher and friend.

We will always remember Elizabeth as a solid member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and a wonderfully engaging teacher and a friend of the family as well. We remember her when Edgar was still living and when Donna was just a wee girl. They had a great family. In school Mrs. Byers was in command and you did as instructed and in that way we students all learned to respect our elders and in the process we received a solid education. As a teacher she loved her students dearly and we returned that love. She will be deeply missed by this family, by her students and by her church. God Bless Her and may she Rest in Peace until we all meet again.
Love From Eric, Arlene and Kay

I still have the book I was awarded in Grade 6 for highest aggregate signed by Mrs. Byers .I can remember being so excited that year because there used to be a prize of some sort for perfect attendance and at long last I figured I was going to get that prize only to be told by my teacher that she did not give prizes for that. She said you can't control whether or not you get sick and have to miss school.I was so disappointed but then when she called my name to give me my prize I was so happy. That was way back in1968. I loved Mrs. Byers ! I am very sorry to hear of her passing Condolences to the family. Debbie (Irving) Sharpe

Recently I had the pleasure of getting to know Elizabeth. I was one of her two care providers. Although my memories of her are new, she certainly left her mark. I remember the first time meeting her. She came out to her driveway and before I was barely out of my vehicle, I found myself wrapped in her arms. Her hugs were bigger than she was.
I was thrilled to learn that Elizabeth loved to read. She would often say to me, "yoo-hoo are you listening?", or "listen to this" and would recite some news or cartoon she found interesting or funny.
Elizabeth also loved to get out for drives. It didn't really matter where we went although she was the classic "backseat driver" and was quick to tell me I was going the wrong way. Elizabeth loved her community, her family and friends, children and her church. Her face would light up in the presence of children.
I believe, if there is one thing Elizabeth would like us to remember and take from her life, it would be to enjoy the time we have and be kind to each other.
Rest easy Elizabeth. Know that you will be remembered and missed by many.
Laura

Donna & family: So very sorry to see of Elizabeth's passing. (Edgar was my 1st cousin so I have known her for a long time). We always enjoyed meeting and catching up on family doings. I believe the last time I saw her was at the Pictou Sutherland Harris lab...one of her grandsons was with her and even with masks on she recognized me. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
