Dear Lola and family,
I am saddened to hear of Oli’s passing.
Heart of Gold is a perfect description of the man I worked with at NS School of Fisheries in the 80’s. He was a wonderful and helpful coworker. We spent many a laugh together at the card table with other staff, on our lunch breaks. Oli was a great player and a formidable foe in a card game. He was kind beyond measure. I would often take a sweater I was knitting to work on at lunch break; Oli, always the master net mender, was quick to help me untangle whenever my yarn got in a mess. He had a joyful and distinctive laugh that I still remember to this day.
I hope your happy memories help you heal from your great loss, as you make your way through your grief to a new kind of normal.

Lola, i shall always remember you and Oli on a Saturday night at the dances in Florida. I also remember walking every morning with Mickey and meeting Oli and his biking buddy. Always a big good morning, a smile and wave!
