Gramps was a blessing and I had the privilege to have him as a Grandfather. My favourite memory was when he put on a firework show and he sent one right over the roof of the house. I will always carry him with me in my heart and continue to make him proud

Barb, Corrine, Sherri & Glen , you will miss him, as well as his sisters and brother. Such a lovely family. You have each other to hug. Prayers. Marguerite

Ed was a wonderful caring man. Thirty plus years ago I joined this wonderful family. Barb and Ed welcomed me as one of their own from day one. We have created some great memories with lots of laughter and joy. Ed was always up for a game of something. He was extremely proud of his family. He would light up when his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would visit or call from away.
One of my fondest memories was of the MacLaren Open. For those of you who know my husband Glenn, you are aware of the importance of golf in our family. Growing up near the Pictou Golf Course , Glenn became an avid golfer. Ed was the brains behind the MacLaren Open. He created a 9 hole golf course on the MacLaren property; tee boxes, holes and the occasional bunker or water hazard. This event occurred for several summers, usually when the grandkids were home from Alberta. It was an event that produced some wonderful funny moments that we will cherish forever.
Ed had a kind heart and time for a chat with friends he would meet. We will miss him deeply, but he is no longer in pain and is at peace. Rest easy Gramps we've got it from here.❤️❤️

Barb, Sherri, Glenn and Corinne- So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. He was a gentle man and Kevin and I enjoyed our conversations with him while Ed and Kevin were on dialysis both in Antigonish and Pictou. I know it couldn't have been easy with the health challenges that he faced head on and with a positive attitude each time another came up. He will be missed. May all the happy memories (I'm sure there will be lots) help you through the next while without him. Hugs to you all.
