ELLIOTT, Betty A. Toney River Betty Alice Elliott - age 85 of Toney River, Pictou County passed away on February 6th, 2023 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Betty was born on August 6, 1937 at Toney Mills, to the late William and Margaret (Fraser) Johnson. She worked very hard both inside and outside making a home with Ira, her husband of sixty years where they raised nine children. Betty was a home-maker, a book keeper for the family fishing business, a gardener, an accomplished quilter and much more. Betty enjoyed card parties, old time dances, bowling and was a member of the Belles and Bouys Square Dancing Club. She was active in her community and was the first Booking Clerk at the Toney River Community Hall for twenty years. She is survived by her nine children, Connie (Keith MacKenzie), Westville; Janet (Gordon MacLean), Woodburn; Millie Grant (Danny), Sundridge; Ruth Woodacre, Caribou River; Brian (Jayne), Three Brooks; Catherine (Cameron Fraser), Halifax/Toney River; Clifford (Ruthie), Toney River; Charles (Marcy), Poplar Hill; Allan (Korinne), Scotsburn; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Marjorie Fraser, brother-in-law, Dan Elliott, several nieces, nephews and cousins and Shadow, her cat. She was predeceased by her husband, Ira MacKenzie Elliott in 2015; brothers, Angus, Jimmy and Vance; son-in-law, Wayne Woodacre. Visitation will be 6-9pm, Wednesday, February 8th in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will held at 2pm, on Thursday February 9th at McLaren Funeral Home with Jacquie Ross officiating. Interment immediately following in Riverbank Cemetery, Toney Mills. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to Riverbank Cemetery or Toney River Community Hall. A gathering for a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at the Toney River Community Hall. Thank you to the staff at Glen Haven Manor.
