I was very saddened to hear this news from another Pictou friend the other day. I grew up in the Valley, close to the Curries, and they became my home away from home. Never a shortage of kids to play with. Spent many a Friday nights playing scat with many of them around their living room coffee table. Peter and I became great buddies over the years. He was a Black Hawk fan from as far back as I can remember him. From road hockey, to dances up at the rink, row boating around Pictou harbour, junior hockey games together, yea, we did it all. He was like the brother I never had. And even when I went away and joined the military, I always made it a point to go visit him when I'd get back to town. He was a GREAT friend and I'll miss you buddy. Rest in peace Peter and may you always center a winning line.

The first time I seen the Pictou Lobster Carnival, I stayed over night in a tent in Peters back yard. Peter had a kind and generous soul. My condolences for your loss.

I first met Peter in 2005 when I went to work on the PEI ferries. Him and I got along very will and had some good laughs. We would call each other every now and then over the years. I find it very sad that he passed away,way to soon. Peter help make the ferries a enjoyable place too work. Made some good friends there and Peter was one of them. I lost my parents in a car accident in 2002 so I know it’s hard to lose someone you love and there is no words I can say to make you feel better. So just letting you know I’m thinking of the family and I’ll remember Peter fondly. Ward (niner)

It is with a heavy heart that I write out to my cousins
(Andrea and Katie and extended family)
I love all of you and wish I could be there through this difficult time. The unexpected news of the loss of my Uncle and God father Peter is truly devastating. My condolences go out to all of you. I'm so very sorry. I had the privilege of growing up close to him in Pictou and he was around for every special occasion. After I moved away, I’d come home and visit and he would always be excited to see me. He was a great loving father, grandfather, a brother, a son, a co-worker to my father and all the crew on the ferries, I will remember his sense of humour and all our memories together. May he rest in Peace with Nanny and Grampy. Take care and love always

Our condolences to the Currie family. Peter and I had lots of fun over the years at NFL.... playing music trivia... listening to his hysterical stories of growing up in the gigantic Currie family... Comparing puzzles from the newspaper...and having lots and lots of laughs. He's been here at our place for lots of good times. He indeed was proud of his girls and loved being a grampie. RIP Pete.
