We regret to announce the passing of Ernest “Allan” Bray at the age of 70, born June 26th, 1952 in Pictou, Nova Scotia. Allan passed away in the early morning of Friday, April 14th, 2023 at the Aberdeen Hospital, with his loving wife/care-giver by his side. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Donald & Lizzy Bray; his brothers, Ramond and George “Nicky” Bray; his sister. Elsie Slaunwhite; his brother-in-law, Lenard Lynch and his sister-in-law, Peggy Bray. Allan is survived by his wife, Dawn; his son, Shone (Lindsay); granddaughters, Summer and Ella; daughter, Delia-Dawn; granddaughter, Cordelia; grandsons, Karter and Karson; his step daughters, Melissa, Samantha (Kenny), Johanna (Dan) and grandchildren, Makenna, Mia, Nick and Alex; his brothers, Sandy, Gary (Irene), Billy (Debbie) and Ricky (Leah); his sisters, Tootsie (Harold), Peggy (Bill), Jessie (Ket), Norma, and Donna (Sandy); also his special sister-in-law, Nellie and many loved nieces and nephews. Allan worked for 35 years with the department of highways before retiring to enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and socializing with his many friends. He was known for his storytelling, jokes, and lovable teasing. Allan was always one to use his wit, give a welcomed wave, and make you smile even during his 5 year battle with cancer. A public viewing will be held Wednesday April 19th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at McLaren funeral home, Pictou. A funeral service will take place Thursday April 20th at 11am at Pictou United Church with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. The service will be live streamed on the Pictou United Church Facebook page. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
