Harvey was a joy to work with as a fellow faculty member at NSTC. He liked nothing more than a good prank with his peers and this was well-complimented with a boyish grin. I have many wonderful memories of our work together. He was a principled person with a strong sense of how to prepare skilled and thoughtful technology education teachers. The good old days- I really miss him!

My deepest condolences to Harvey's family and friends. I only knew Harvey when I met him at Deb's Hidden Cafe in Scotsburn, but I ALWAYS had a great conversation. He was astute and very much in tune with the times. A really nice fellow and I'll miss him. Cheers and Go to the Light Harvey!

Harvey was one of Dads best friends. But it feels like losing Dad all over again as they have such a long history together, had old shared stories of college and teaching together. They were friends for over 55 years. That's a lifetime of love. We have known him our whole lives.
Harvey never took any credit for the impact he had on the lives of so many. He was a natural teacher and story teller. He would hook us with a story, then boom...end up telling us a joke. Lol "Oh Harvey" I'd say. He loved to tease and have fun. Always so proud of our accomplishments. He shared in so many of our life events and celebrations. He was our family.
So many card games, jokes, bags of chips and nacho cheese (he loved that crap), birthday suppers and cake. He loved Moms cooking. He loved spending time with the Shaws. He always made us see how lucky we were to have our families, kids and two parents that we loved to death and whose world revolved around. And we were lucky to have had you in our lives. He was always saddened by the fact he never had kids, he would have been the best Dad...but was always happy to have seen us grow up, have families of our own and become good people.
He will be dearly missed by our whole family. The cottage will never be the same. You will be remembered through our cherished stories and memories of you. Condolences to the family for your huge loss!

Well, Harvey, I sure will miss our games of poker and the stories. No doubt you'll find a collection of fine gentlemen with whom to strike up a game whenever the urge strikes. I've known you since I was a child and it's hard to believe that you're gone. Rest in Peace, Sir.

I did not know Harvey personally but his warm heart and friendship to others has had a ripple effect. Carla Cooper's family knew Harvey well and Carla, a teaching colleague of mine posted a beautiful tribute to him on Facebook. I wish I had been blessed with knowing Harvey myself. Seems he enriched the lives of all who knew him personally. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends.

Mr. Henderson had a huge impact on many of us studying Tech Ed at NSTC in the 90s. We knew him well as a coyote hunter, a metal worker, war expert, and a Pictou County man with his Pictou County typewriter (which wasn't a typewriter at all).
He saw our individual skills and capitalized on them. He knew each of us as an expert at something and he treated us like professionals. I have such fond memories of him, as do so many others, I'm sure. My condolences to his family. -Kilah Binderup Hayden

Mr Henderson,
I truly hope you know the impact you’ve had on your students- I’ve seen so many posts these past 24 hours, and it’s no surprise. You treated us all with respect. It didn’t matter what our grades were in other classes, we had a clean slate with you. You taught us about safety, and made us confident enough to be able to handle table saws and try things like welding (even if later in life this over confidence scares our significant others- haha) You expected us to do our best- not mess around, and allowed us to be creative with it. You inspired more than a few careers, and I’m sure even more passions. You were a teacher who was meant for the job.
Thank you.

What a man. Harvey was such a unique character - quick to laugh, eager to debate, and a card player extraordinaire. He sometimes liked to play the curmudgeon, but inside he had a big heart and a fierce loyalty to his principles and those he loved. He was a lifelong friend and mentor to our father, who remained close with Harvey throughout his life. We can't tell you how many times Dad told us that Harvey was the one to put him on the right track back when Harvey was his high school teacher, and that he wouldn't have gotten far in life without him. Harvey was a good man, a good friend, and most definitely one of a kind. He will be missed.
Sending our love and condolences to his family,
Kimberly and Janet Stalker

Good bye dear friend. Condolences to Harvey’s family.
A true character, most highly principled, he loved a good debate or discussion on most any topic. His sense of mischievous pranks was second to none! He will certainly be missed. RIP.

Harvey was a great hunting mentor and friend to my son and I. We spent many hours hunting and scouting together (and listening to his stories). He always took great interest in our children’s achievements. I will truly miss his stories, dry wit, and of course, teasing.
Rest in peace my friend.
