Betty kept me on my toes when I visited her during my years as minister in Durham. She was always up on local and current events. I needed to be prepared for an engaging conversation. She could have been in fashion, given the way she dressed so properly. I will always remember what a 'lady' she was!

My sincere sympathy on Bessie's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Bessie for a short time at Scotiabank in the late 70's.
Bessie taught me much and was well liked and respected by customers and staff ; she was always there to lend a helping hand.
Indeed Bessie was a classy lady , may she now rest in peace in the arms of our Lord.

I knew Betty a very long time ago. We both lived on Poplar Street. She lived on the upper end near Patterson School. I was maybe 7-8 years old and how I met here was her little black poodle named Echo. I often spoke with her when she had him out. Over the years I would see her at the Bank of Nova Scotia and say hello. A very gracious lady. Very kind.

I spent many years working with Bessie at Scotiabank enjoying her sense of humor and class. Always a lady with a fun side such as her baby blue Mustang. She lived a full life with grace. Condolences to her faithful family.

Another great angel has received her wings. So sorry to hear of Betty's passing. She was quite the lady and always enjoyed a good laugh. I am honored to have worked with Betty and have her as a friend. I was lucky to have been given a lovely embroidered picture which a friend had made for her and I cherish it and think of her every time I look at it which is every day as it's the first thing you see when you enter my home. She is gone but will not be forgotten. Hugs to you all.

My condolences to Eleanor and all of Bessie's family: So very sorry for your loss. I first met Bessie when we moved "out to the country" from Pictou and began attending the Durham church. Over the years, in the time before Covid, when our choir would visit the Shiretown Home, it was always a pleasure to meet up with the "MacLellan sisters". It was a rare Sunday that Bessie wasn't there to check up on what was going on in Durham. A lovely lady who will be missed indeed.

Bessie and my Mom, Lilly became the closest of friends while working together at the Bank of Nova Scotia and long into their retirement. They enjoyed many travels together both around Pictou County and much further afield. I was fortunate to spend time with them on some of these excursions. I think of them being together again enjoying the companionship!
