So sorry to hear of Hector's passing. Sending sincere condolences and sympathy to Patsy and all the family. I was introduced to Hector by his brother in law Bill Downs in his garage/workshop behind his house. He was a very friendly man and was working on a project at the time. He showed me some of the things he built which demonstrated his inventive mind. Always enjoyed visiting him when I went to visit Bill. My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.

I remember Hector's teen age years in Plainfield. High on the list is the V-12 Lincoln Hearse that was stripped down to a front seat, and windshield. I think occasionally a siren might have been involved as it roared down the main road. Next on the list is the salvaging of a car radio and hooking it up to a battery along with workable speakers. Knowledge of all the best fishing holes on the East Branch of the River John was pretty neat as well. And where did one go to get a home made baseball bat? Hector turned out more than one, in a small shop besides his family home. In later years with well tuned mechanical and welding skills he was a go too to fix a trailer hitch, build a wood-splitter, or build a part for your rototiller. His hunting tales also bordered on the legendary. A great cousin to to show you how to do things. Very much missed, by Ian, and Norma MacCara. Thanks for all the "Hector" stories, I could tell my kids over the years. RIP

My sincere sympathy to Hector's family on his passing. I remember well many years ago when I was sharing an apt with Nancy McCara. Hector and my brother Ernie Patriquin brought down to Hfx a load of furniture that Blanche and Jim had given us. We cooked them a nice meal (we thought) as a thank you, sweet and sour spare ribs with rice. Well they went back home and told everyone that Nancy and Helen had fed them bones for lunch!! The rice didn't fare much better. Next time I was home Ernie arrived over with 5 lbs of potatoes from Hector and him. I still laugh about that infamous meal. Both of them were "one of a kind". May Hector rest in peace.
