THORNE, Scott Raymond Pictou On July 24th, 2023, Scott Raymond Thorne, age 54 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Before Scott’s cancer diagnosis he was employed as an Industrial Insulating Supervisor with MacDonald’s Industrial Services. Scott fought a hard battle with grace and dignity, and never complained about the cards he was dealt. One of Scott’s goals was to see Dan graduate from Pictou Academy which he did with great pride. Scott was a long-time Legion member and played many a dart games over the years. For many years he was an avid golfer, and we enjoyed many trips with family and friends across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. One of Scott’s favourite places was Terry and Chrissie’s camp. He loved to get to the camp to “hunt” in the fall. Our camper was a staple there the last few years, enjoying many evenings with cards and laughter. Scott loved sitting on the deck welcoming friends always willing to share a “Vitamin O”. Scott instilled a love for music and playing the guitar in his two boys, with many nights sitting around the kitchen table or the campfire playing his favourite tunes. Scott is survived by his wife, Angela; sons, Daniel (Home) and Cecil (Dartmouth); mother, Brenda Thorne-Peckham; sister, Stacey (Kevin) Pettipas; mother-in-law, Janice O’Hearn; sister-in-law, Dale (Steven) MacCarthy; brother-in-law, David (Bea) O’Hearn; and many nieces and nephews who referred to him as “Uncle Boo-Boo”, Sydney (Robbie), Evan, Alanah (Evan), Skyler, Jeremy (Megan), Cassidy (Steve); great nephew, Weston; and fur baby, Lucy. Scott was predeceased by his father, Raymond Thorne; stepfather, Ralph Peckham; and father-in-law, Joseph O’Hearn. Visitation will be held Thursday July 27th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will take place Friday July 28th at 1pm from the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with burial to follow in Seaview Cemetery. Reception will take place at 3pm in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Pictou.
