Obituary of Joie Jackie Briggs

BRIGGS, Joie J. Plymouth / Lower Caledonia Joie Jackie Briggs, 82 of Plymouth, formerly or Lower Caledonia passed away October 21, 2023 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. He passed peacefully with his loving partner Isabel by his side, as she always was. Joie was born in Upper Cape, New Brunswick on September 11, 1941 to Randall and Flora (Allen) Briggs. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Joie is survived by his loving partner, Isabel Bonvie; his children, Kim, Kevin, Kenda and Krista; and step children, Robert, Lloyd, Jessie, Jan, and their families; special nieces, Lisa Briggs of Maccan, Nova Scotia and Carolyn (Brent) of Sackville, New Brunswick. Joie in his early years fished lobster in New Brunswick, then once moving to Nova Scotia he started his own business, Briggs Roofing and Siding, a successful business he operated for more than 40 years. Joie was known for his strong work ethic, never an idle hand. Everyone knew that Joie had a great passion for the outdoors, he loved fishing, four wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting and gathering wood. He could often be found roaming the woods of Caledonia. These passions he passed on to his children and grandchildren. They can all share a canoe story. A special thank you to the VON and the Palliative Care Unit for their outstanding care and compassion. At Joie’s request there will be no funeral or visitation. There will be a committal of ashes in the Churchville Cemetery on November 5, 2023 at 2pm followed by a time of fellowship at the Plymouth Fire Hall. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou County Palliative Care Society.
