Bella Jane (Falconer) Smith New Glasgow / Caribou River It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bella Jane (Falconer) Smith, 86, of New Glasgow, on March 3, 2024. Bella was born July 15, 1937 and was the oldest daughter of Ernie and Sadie (MacPhail) Falconer. She called Caribou River home for many years where she married and raised her family before moving to New Glasgow. Family meant the world to Bella and she enjoyed visits from them frequently. Over the years, Bella had many jobs and the one she loved the most was with Tourism Nova Scotia. She had the gift of talk and had a curious nature when meeting new people. By the end of a conversation, she was able to pinpoint someone or something you had in common. In retirement Bella found happiness in volunteer work with various local organizations, was an active member of her church, enjoyed live music, and rescued many neighbourhood cats in which she doted on and loved dearly. Bella is survived by her longtime companion Ian; brother, Albert (Judy); sisters, Gladys (Bruce) and Jewel Ann; daughter, Bonnie (Stan); grandchildren, John (Amanda), Jenn (Taylor), Shaylee, Kenneth (Victoria), Ronald (Amanda); nieces, Barbara (Brian), Rosalind (Darrel); and nephews, Greg (Sanae) and Chris. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stanley; son, Raymond; parents, Ernie and Sadie; brother, Milton; and grandson, Victor. Sincere thank you goes to the wonderful staff of the Aberdeen Hospital who provided care and comfort to Bella in her final weeks. McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. A Visitation will be held there Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 1-3pm, followed by Memorial Service at 3 pm. Reception will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Hall, Pictou. Burial will take place in the Spring. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to the Pictou County SPCA, or a charity of your choice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRDYAgkLdeI
