Dear Mary Beth & David, Robbie, and Jamie:
My sincerest condolences on the passing of your mother. I have such fond memories of visiting your home as a child and the way she looked after me and dad … the feeling of coming home to family. I remember the beautiful fabrics she wove and being amazed at that loom and how she worked it. She was a busy woman, so much going on in her life, but she made time to make us feel special and so welcome. I am so happy that we reconnected on my visit 5 years ago … I felt like she hadn’t changed at all!
Sending love and wishing you strength … cousin Jane

Joan, Freddy and I attended Alice St School together back in the 1940’s, and I think we all attended Brunswick St Church. Where my father was Minister. Don, we called him Donald, and I, were at Mt A together. So many happy memories. And what full, productive lives they had. I remember Percy with flour dust from the bakery on his clothes! I live on Caribou Island summers and would welcome a visit any time. Fred MacInnes.

Well that was a life well lived. I met your mom when I was just a little girl and I have such a clear remembrance of what a real lady she was! Gracious and kind at all times. My condolences to you all on the loss of this lovely woman in your life. She lived a good long life but that will never diminish the loss you feel by her presence not there.

Sending sympathy on the death of your dear Mother. Joan was a good friend to my own mom, Eveline MacLeod. They first met at school in
Truro and again when your family moved to
Whycocomagh.. Joan was taught to weave by my Mom and many good times were enjoyed with the weaver’s guild. I recall many visits by your parents to our home in South Haven. They were good friends.

Dear Mary Beth and the larger family,
I had met your Mum a few times long ago, when I was a new minister in Inverness and points distant throughout the County, 1977-79. The one in your family I really knew and appreciated his company, was your Dad. Don was so well known it's as if he was a "Bishop" to many Protestants in central Cape Breton.
Sympathy is extended to all who knew and were a close part of Joan's life. May your memories be sustained with joy and times well lived thinking of your Mum, her skill in meeting people, and supporting her husband's ministry.
RIP and may light perpetual shine brightly.
Yours most sincerely,
K

I was so very sad to hear of your Mom's passing. It must have been very hard saying goodbye to this amazing woman, but she sure led a beautiful life ❤️ I did not have many chats with her she was definitely a lot quiet than your Dad :) But I do remember her kindness most of all.
Hugs xo

Mr & Mrs Sutherland and their family, were our neighbour's in Whycocomagh for all of my childhood. So many wonderful memories. Saying hello or simply a wave, singing in the choir together, anything cat related, & sharing special occasions are just a sample that have since become cherished memories.
My deepest condolences to you all ♥️
