BOWEN, Stanley Pictou Mervyn Stanley Bowen, 79, of Pictou, passed away peacefully May 15, 2024 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by family. Stan was born on February 7, 1945 to Daniel Bowen and Mildred (Hayman) in Pictou. Stan joined the army as a young man and served as a gunner, and later worked as a pipe fitter and First Mate. He spent the majority of his working career as a fisherman. Stan was also an avid hunter and golfer. Stan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda (MacDonald); daughters, Sheri, Texas; and Myrna, Pictou; brothers, Dan (Edna), Pictou; brother, Jack (Steffany) Edmonton; sisters, Janet Corbett, Joanne Bowen, Judy (Ron) Cormier, all of Pictou, sister, Marilyn (Francis) Hogan, Neil’s Harbour; and Brenda (John) McKenna, Antigonish. Stan was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Keith and Gerald “Sandy”; sister, Carol Ann Martell; infant sister, Harriet and his good dog, Miller. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service at Stan’s request. Donations in Stan’s memory can be made to the Aberdeen Hospital palliative care unit or a charity of your choice.
