Having good neighbors is a treasure and here on Hawthorn Avenue in Kippens, NL , we are blessed with wonderful neighbors. Maureen & Wayne were a beautiful part of our neighborhood and we have many great memories...especially our Canada Day Celebrations! This photo was taken on August 23, 2023. Maureen & Wayne had come to NL for a visit so of course, there had to be a get together with the Hawthorn crowd! We were all so happy!

I’ve known Aunt Moe all my life and what a pleasure it was to have her in it. She was, and continues to be, one of the most caring, loving, understanding people I’ve ever known. From going above and beyond for her family to being the brightest, most cheerful person at family gatherings, Aunt Moe has always been an absolutely amazing person to know. I could never pick just one favourite memory with her, but, having her in the crowd at the hockey rink has always made me skate twice as hard and feel honoured to have her there supporting me. She will be missed and I am confident any game I play in Pictou she will be there cheering me on!
Love you forever and always Aunt Moe!

To Wayne and family and the Brennan family… my deepest condolences to you all. I was so saddened to hear of Maureen’s passing. She was a very sweet, kind, gentle person. It was a privilege to have known and worked with her. I met her at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville in 1988, and when I started working in Intensive Care a year later, everything I needed to know about doing EKG’s, I learned from her. She was so helpful, and patient, to all her coworkers and patients. And through the years as I got to know her better, both at work, and socially, I could see what a truly wonderful person she was. I know she put up a strong fight, and it’s so sad that she’s gone, but her spirit will live on …. We will think of her often, Love Angie and Sean (King)..

I'm so saddened to hear of Maureen passing. She was a wonderful kind, gentle woman with a great sense of humor. She welcomed me into her home not just as a babysitter for you but also a family member. I'll never forget listening to ABBA and watching her cook. She was a beautiful lady and will live on through the love she shared with everyone around her. I offer my deepest condolences and love, may the memories you have console you all through this difficult time.

My sincerest condolences Wayne (& family) on Maureen's passing. When I heard the sad news my day was a little more silent than usual as I reflected on the many conversations that we had over the years. Those chats or yarns will now become fond memories as I remember her zest for life, her compassion for others and her love of family and friends. She was truly a social butterfly who savored life to the fullest. She will surely be missed but never forgotten. Godspeed Maureen...

Wayne, Tanya, Donald & families,
Our sincerest condolences are with you all during this very difficult time. My very first shift at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville was on February 18, 1991. I didn't know anyone. Break time came and someone told me the directions to the cafeteria and said that I would find Maureen down there. I found the cafeteria and I found Maureen enjoying a tea biscuit...one of the many that I seen her enjoy over our years not only as colleagues but also as friends. She was such a kind and compassionate person and her family was everything to her. She often talked about her parents, her siblings and the wonderful relationship with her sisters. As well, of course, her own children and grandchildren and the love of her life, Wayne. A few years after her retirement, we were privileged to welcome Maureen & Wayne to our street. They bought the home directly across the street from ours...and I was delighted! I so much enjoyed our time as neighbours and even with the move to Nova Scotia, we have still kept in contact and remained wonderful friends. Her last message to me was on June 1, 2024. She filled me in on her illness and as always, she was so strong and courageous and despite all of that, she expressed to me her concern for Wayne & Tanya as she knew they were hurting so much. Maureen was a true inspiration and she will be missed by all who knew her. As you try to move forward, take care of each other and find comfort in your beautiful memories.

Wayne and family, my deepest condolences to all. I've had the pleasure of knowing Maureen for only 3 years, but being part of the yoga chicks brought us closer than acquaintances with plenty of laughs and wine. As tough as this is, I know she is our yoga angel still with us in spirit. Denise

May Maureen's soul rest eternally in the warmth and peace she so generously extended to others. As gentle and courageous as a lighthouse, she was a beacon of kindness to us during shared good times in Stephenville. Her loving nature remains imprinted on our hearts; her friendship with my late mother was cherished, and those jovial hours spent at her parent’s home in The Crossing are memories we will forever hold near.

Maureen was a long time co-worker and friend. She was very passionate and caring, always having a smile for her patients.
Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep’ by Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there.
I did not die.
