Obituary of Jean Coghlan

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
COGHLAN, E.'Jean' Born in Pictou, Nova Scotia October 25 1958 - July 30 2024 Nothing compares to a mother’s love. And the unfillable space that is left when it comes time for her to leave this earth. It is with the greatest sadness and heaviest of hearts, but with a profound sense of peace that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Jean Coghlan. Known fondly to those closest to her as Jeannie/Jean. Jean can only be described as a strong, courageous and loving women. She will leave behind an incredible legacy of love through her husband Eldon, her daughters Rachel (Mark), and Marianne(Adam). Her beloved grandchildren Hailey(Steve) and Reid and her greatest joy, her great grandson Hudson. Jean leaves behind her brother Charles Landry, sister Elsie Landry and step father Andrew Lynch. She was predeceased by her parents Wilda and Tony Landry, her infant son, beloved grandmother Jessie Langille and siblings Cathy, Danny, Mike, Vicky and Gordie; as well as her in-laws Victor and Violet Coghlan. One of Jeans greatest and most treasured roles was that of being an aunt to her nieces and nephews. Then there is Kim (Dwayne) who she considered her third daughter. At the end when Jean needed her most and without hesitation she travelled a long way to complete our family to support Jean to take control and say no more machines. Jean fought a long hard battle with her declining health. She was a warrior until the end and will forever remain the strongest and bravest women we had the honour of knowing. So we ask everyone to wear the colour blue and drink a cup of tea and remember your fondest memories of Jean as she joins the most epic maritime kitchen party that heaven has ever seen. Take care of her for us Gord until we can be together again. Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2PM at Central Caribou cemetery with Father Peter officiating. Reception will follow at the Pictou Legion.
