BAILLIE, James Edward - Age 98, of River John, passed away June 21, 2018. Born in River John, Oct 19, 1919, Jim was a son of the late George and Mary Myrtle (Cameron) Baillie.  Jim was a lifelong farmer, taking over the family farm in 1951 until his retirement in 2008.  He was an active member of the River John community and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of its history.  He was a faithful member and elder of St. George’s Presbyterian Church.  Jim was a leader of the River John Boy Scouts for many years and a 75 year member of the Helping Hand I.O.O.F. Lodge, No. 34.  He was also a past member of the River John Fire Department.  Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna; daughters, Mary (Owen) Langille, Elizabeth Alexander; son, Jim (Shirley); sister, Beth Brackett of Reno, Nevada; his grandchildren, Catherine (Sohael), Joey (Terry), Cindy, Jim (Tammy), Kelly (Travis), Cathy (Adam), Eric (Tamara); eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brothers-in-law, Ron (Norma), Jack; sisters-in-law, Marguerite (Keith), Evelyn, and Fluff.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine (MacKinnon); son, Ian; infant son, Ralph; son-in-law, Bob Alexander; sister, Jean; brothers, Jack and Ralph; infant brother, Hector.  Visitation will take place on Sunday June 24th between 6:00 - 9:00pm in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John.  The funeral will be held Monday, June 25th at 2:00pm from St. George’s Presbyterian Church, burial to follow in Bellevue Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George’s Presbyterian Church or Bellevue Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.  www.mclarenfuneral.ca
